What is the 100th anniversary of the city of soccer, to begin with?
Even the J-League started in 1993, and this year is the 31st anniversary. That’s about three times the size of the J-League💦.

　The “100th Anniversary of the City of Soccer” is said to have originated in 1924, when the old Shida Junior High School (now Fujieda Higashi High School) opened and the late Hyosaburo Nishigori, the school’s first principal, decided to make soccer, which was a minor sport at the time, the “school sport.
Fujieda Higashi High School is also Hasebe’s school.
It makes sense.

At this museum, visitors can learn about the 100-year history of this soccer town, experience playing soccer using state-of-the-art technology, and view a variety of valuable exhibits.

Not to forget, you will be greeted by characters written by Yoichi Takahashi, the well-known author of “Captain Tsubasa”. Fans can’t get enough of it!

I am of the “Captain Tsubasa” generation, so this is perfect for me.

The Museum

Inside the museum, the history of the 100th anniversary of the city of soccer is displayed like a timeline.
The museum also displays the uniforms of three players from Fujieda City: Masashi Nakayama, Hiroshi Nanami, and Makoto Hasebe.

It is flattering to know that all three players are members of the Japanese national team and are from Fujieda City!

On display in the museum are uniforms, medals, and trunks used in the Berlin Olympics and Mexico Olympics, as well as uniforms and spikes actually used by the three athletes.

And the uniforms of Makoto Hasebe, who retired in May 2024, and the uniform of the Japanese national team and Frankfurt, Germany, are also on display.

Other features include a VR headset to experience the perspective of a soccer player, the ability to change uniforms and download images, and other features that make this space a must for soccer lovers.

When I first moved to Fujieda, I often heard about the city’s thriving soccer scene, but to be honest, I didn’t really feel it.
But after seeing this museum and learning about the history and the three great players from Fujieda, I feel that Fujieda is a great city! I feel that Fujieda City is amazing!

By the way, this museum will be here (Fujieda Civic Hall) until the end of March 2025, after which it will be moved to a different location.
