A 4-minute walk from the south exit of JR Fujieda Station. American hamburgers served in an extraordinary space. A place where you can enjoy spending time with your friends, partner, or family across generations.
A space where just being there is fun!
The restaurant opened in July 2022. Although it has only been open for about two years, some customers come all the way from Tokyo and Osaka to drop by after hearing a rumor.
If you are unfamiliar with the store, it may take some courage to enter, but rest assured that the friendly staff will gently guide you through the store.
Of course, this is a great place for those who love oldies (music that was popular mainly in the U.S. in the 1950s and 1960s), but even those who are not familiar with music or the past can enjoy just looking at the colorful, retro and cute American goods.
The items displayed in the store were collected by the owner over time, as well as by his friends and acquaintances, and together they make up this large number. The items are also said to be filled with the thoughts and feelings of their original owners, so it is interesting to ponder the history of these items.
In a corner of the store, there is a stage where live music performances are regularly held. The restaurant used to be a jazz bar, with a high ceiling and a mezzanine floor, and a sexy staircase leads you to the second floor.
The mezzanine floor is also spacious and open, and in some places it has a special atmosphere that will lift your spirits. The view of the restaurant from above is also nice.
Outside, there is terrace seating, and depending on the season, the windows can be opened to allow diners to dine in an open space.
Another nice feature of the terrace seating is that you can bring your dog along.
Bold American hamburgers and a diverse menu
The Cadillac hamburger, the signature item on the menu, is a hearty hamburger with a thick patty, boldly cut onions and tomatoes, cheese, and a special sauce. It is a real pleasure to eat as much as you can.
When the restaurant first opened, the menu was simple, consisting mainly of hamburgers and hamburgers, but as the restaurant responded to customer requests, the menu gradually increased to its current number of items.
This is a part of the menu. There are many other side dishes and drink menus, so you can enjoy a drink while having a bite to eat.
Aiming to be a privately owned family restaurant
The owner, Takayuki Shimizu, says that his goal is to create a “privately owned family restaurant. He wants to create a restaurant that everyone can visit, from oldies fans of the past to young people who have never heard of the oldies. That is why he listens to his customers’ opinions and adapts his menu and other items accordingly.
Mr. Shimizu used to run an American bar in the shopping arcade in front of Fujieda Station on the north side of the station for about 30 years. At that time, the shopping street was very busy, and many people came to Fujieda from other cities, such as Shizuoka City, to visit. The people in the shopping district, including Mr. Shimizu, were planning various activities to liven things up.
Although there are fewer people around the station now than before, Mr. Shimizu has a strong desire to make his beloved Fujieda a better city, which led him to start the Cadillac Café, which can be enjoyed during the daytime.
He believes that the town will become more vibrant as more and more individual stores are established.
n addition to his store, he also serves as president of the school PTA and organizes events in the community, working hard to energize Fujieda and make it a place where young people can enjoy themselves.
Customers who come from far away seem to come to Fujieda not only because of the wonderful store, but also because of Ms. Shimizu’s personality.
Please come to enjoy the restaurant and the food, and also to meet the owner and the people who gather there.
