Sukemune Shokudo” – Neo popular diner offering ankake spaghetti and Western-style food

This is a rare restaurant near Rengejiike Park where you can enjoy Nagoya’s specialty, spaghetti with ankake (spaghetti with starchy sauce). The thick noodles with a unique sticky texture are well mixed with the tomato-based sweet and spicy sauce, and many people become addicted to it after eating it. The restaurant is run by a mischievous young owner and his wife.

A wide variety of ankake spaghetti

Ankake spaghetti is one of Nagoya’s specialties. The owner trained at an authentic Nagoya restaurant and opened in 2015 at the current location.

It was given a familiar name so that people of all ages and walks of life can come here every day.

The most popular dish is the standard “Mirakan” ankake spaghetti.

This is the classic Mirakan topped with meatballs.

When I first tried ankake spaghetti, I was surprised at the texture of spaghetti, which I had never had before.

In addition to the thick noodles, it has a unique sticky texture. This texture is said to be achieved because the noodles are coated with oil after boiling.

The sauce is tomato-based, sweet and spicy, and is suitable for both children and adults.

No wonder the combination of the texture of this spaghetti and the sweet and spicy sauce is so addictive.

The meatballs can be easily described as round meat cutlets. The crispy batter and tightly packed meat seem to go well with the starchy sauce. It is indeed the most popular topping.

There are five sizes to choose from. The noodles are so satisfying that a normal person would be satisfied even with the regular size.

There is also a wide variety of other menu items to choose from.

There are also a variety of menu items that will satisfy your meat craving.

You can also order your own original spaghetti by adding toppings.

For those who want to eat rice, we recommend the Western-style omelette rice. In fact, it is one of the most popular menus with many repeat customers.

It is also nice that you can choose both the traditional “omelet with ketchup” or “omelet without ketchup”.

The naming is playful and slightly comforting.

Master who is like a neighbor’s brother

This is Yuta Muramatsu, the owner of the restaurant.

He is a big man and cooks seriously, so at first I felt it was difficult to approach him. However, when I talked to him, he spoke with a mixture of jokes, making him seem like a mischievous older brother, and he is very approachable.

How did he start his business?

When I was a university student in Nagoya, I happened to get a part-time job at a popular ankake spaghetti restaurant. Until then, I had not been impressed with ankake spaghetti, but I heard that it was very tasty and different from other restaurants.

After graduation, he continued his apprenticeship and later returned to Fujieda to open a business in the shopping arcade.

He lived in a mountainous area when he was a child and would sometimes take the bus to visit the shopping arcade. The shopping district he saw was a sparkling town. He decided to look for a store in the Fujieda shopping arcade because he wanted to open a business in an area where he had friends and people who had helped him as a child.

A space and many things inherited by chance

At that time, I visited a Western-style restaurant called “Blondie” that was located in the old shopping district.

The restaurant, which had been running for many years, had only a counter and was run by an uncle alone.

He had a desire in his heart to operate a restaurant like this.

A year passed after that, as he looked at various places around Fujieda Station and other areas, but could not make up his mind, and he was stuck in an accident. Then, after a long time, I passed by Blondie’s and saw a sign saying that it was closed.

I followed a lead and when I asked him why, he told me that he was closing the store due to his advanced age. When Mr. Muramatsu told the owner that he wanted to rent the restaurant, he was told that if he was willing to do the same thing as a Western-style restaurant, he could sell the whole place at a discount.

The location of the restaurant was decided, and some of the plates, cutlery, cooking utensils, and other items used at Blondie’s are still in use today.

I think I inherited a lot of things from Blondie in a good way,” Muramatsu said.

Lovely People who frequent the neo-popular eateries.

Muramatsu-san’s goal is to create a restaurant where the menu remains the same, but there is something extra that makes people want to come back again and again.

At lunchtime, many people come for lunch, at night it becomes a community center for neighborhood men, and on weekends it becomes a place for families and students on their way home from extracurricular activities to enjoy each other’s company. It is also described as a “human crossroads.

It is not unusual for students of Fujieda Junkoshin High School’s soccer team to visit the store not only during their school years but also after graduation, and some of them have become family friends.

I think I have a better understanding of what it is like to be in a place where the owner and the customers are not only customers, but also interact with each other as human beings.

I have been working in the shopping district for about 10 years now, and I want to return the favor one by one. I want to give back one by one. If young people see me, they will want to open their own stores,” said Muramatsu.

He is a reliable presence for Fujieda’s shopping district.

When you visit, you may want to check out the extra “something” they have to offer.
